 He was awarded a scholarship by the Gekwar (ruler) of Baroda (now Vadodara), he studied in the universities of the U.S United States, Britain, and Germany. After some years, he came back to Baroda and got a job as an officer (Public Service) at the Gaikwar’s request. Leadership, joining of political parties

Dr. B.R Ambedkar has soon established a leadership among Dalit and founded several journals on their behalf, and succeeded in obtaining special representation for them in the legislative councils of the government. Contesting Mahatma Gandhi claim to speak for Dalits (They were called Harijans by Mahatma Gandhi). 


 In the year 1947, Ambedkar became the law minister of the government of India. He plays an important role in forming the constitution. He out logs the discrimination against the untouchables and skilfully helps to steer it through the assembly. Although he resigned in 1951, as he was disappointed at his lack of influence in the government.

Change Of Religion (Buddha Dharm)

 In the month of October in 1956, he renounced Hinduism and become Buddhist with about 200,000 fellow Dalits, at a ceremony in Nagpur district of Maharastra.  

Books And Degrees

He published a book called “The Buddha and his Dhamma” in 1957 afterward it was republished as “ The Buddha and His Dhamma the critical edition in 2011. It was edited, introduced and annotated by Akash Singh Rathore and Ajay Verma.

He has a total of six degrees which include B.A (University of Mumbai), M.A and Ph.D. from Columbia University, MSc & BSc from the London School of Economics and Barrister-at-Law in Gray’s Inn. He was awarded by Bharat Ratna in the year (1990). He was Jurist, economist, politician, social reformer by profession.

Death Of B.R. Ambedkar

Dr. B.R Ambedkar died on 6th  December 1956 at the age of 65.
